By the end of the Revolution, America was up to its neck in debt, and that figure rose even more with the collapse of the failed Articles of Confederation government. So, in order to help the struggling nation, and to help it organise its finances, Alexander Hamilton created the National Bank. It was supported by the mainly industrial north, because their industry relied on that sort o' thing, but was not as supported in the south, a mainly rural area.
